I am starting a wedding decorating business, but am having a difficult time finding supplies can anyone help?
I am looking to buy chair covers and linens, also backdrops and columns for decorating. Any suggestions as to where I can find these items cheap.
Textile dealers will have the fabrics you need, from thick canvas to wispy and lacy. You could probably make the chair covers and linens pretty easily (or easily once you had the hang of it). Oftentimes the places where the couple hosts its reception will have the linens and chair covers on-hand, so you might not want to sink a ton of money into those unless you're also thinking about supplying the facility. There are a few sites like http://www.wholesalechaircoversonline.com/page/page/4490410.htm as well.
For columns I'd look at a home-building supply store first. You'll want to buy these locally if you can since freight charges can eat you alive.
It's coming to the end of the wedding season, and right now and for a few weeks all of this year's stock will be going on clearance at places like Michaels. I saw a pre-lit garden arch there last year on clearance for $24. It was ridiculous.
eBay probably has a ton of wedding stuff floating around, as well.
Finally, look up wholesalers online. Googling results in a lot of meta-tags for wholesale and discount for places that aren't either, so you'll have to dig deep.
